Kamerane: Building Stability and Dreams

Client, Kamerane

“It’s my first baby, and I don’t really know what to do.”

Like many new moms, Kamerane faced uncertainty—but her challenges ran deeper. Without a steady job and waiting on unemployment, she found herself on the edge of losing her car. That vehicle wasn’t just transportation—it was her lifeline for getting her son to doctor’s appointments and managing everyday tasks.

“If I lost my car, I would have… I would have been in a bad situation.”

Catholic Charities stepped in—not just with diapers and wipes, but with understanding. Her caseworker listened, learned what she was stressed about, and helped secure the support she needed. They helped pay her car payment so she could stay on track and avoid crisis.

“I didn’t know that I was going to get the great support that we have. I thought they were just gonna help receive and send things that you need for first-time moms… but I didn’t know the extra that came with it.”

Behind the practical support came a deeper kind of care—the chance to talk, to vent, to be heard. Kamerane wasn’t just handed supplies; she was invited into a relationship rooted in trust and respect.

“It’s just good to have somebody there that feels like family to be behind you and support you, you know, and care for him just as much as you do.”

Her goals became clearer. A house. A yard. A stable life. A future filled with travel and wonder for her son. And Catholic Charities didn’t just nod along—they invested in her, helping her grow in confidence and self-awareness.

“It really, really, really does put you in a better situation. I feel like it’ll have you feeling at ease because you have that assistance with you and you know you have somebody there that can help you and kind of mentor you in whatever situation that you’re going through.”

Her caseworker reflected:

“Working with Kamerane is such a pleasant experience. She’s so engaged and really wants to be here and work toward goals and really thrive as a single mom and a first-time parent.”

Catholic Charities meets families in all their complexity—not just offering baby clothes or financial help, but showing up with heart. The kind that sees people deeply and helps build futures one conversation, one act of support, one dream at a time.
