Call to Family, Community, and Participation

November 2025

Core Principle

Human beings are created for relationship—with God and with one another. Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that our dignity is upheld not only through personal rights, but through active participation in family and society. We are called to build communities rooted in justice, compassion, and the common good.

This teaching comes into focus in November. All Saints’ Day celebrates our spiritual family in heaven, while All Souls’ Day invites us to pray for those who have gone before us. Thanksgiving offers a moment to reflect on the blessings of shared life, gratitude, and belonging.

Scriptural Reflection

As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

1 Peter 4:10

Prayer & Petition

God of Communion,

You created us to live not in isolation but in relationship—with You and with one another. Strengthen our families, deepen our sense of community, and inspire us to participate in building a world where all are welcomed, valued, and heard.

We offer these intentions:

  • For Catholic Charities staff and volunteers—may they be strengthened in their service and find joy in their work of mercy
  • For Catholic Charities clients—may they experience dignity, hope, and the support they need to flourish
  • For Catholic Charities supporters—may their generosity bear fruit in the lives of those they serve and inspire others to join in solidarity
  • For families experiencing division or hardship—may they be healed and restored in love
  • For those who feel isolated or alone—may they find connection and belonging
  • For all who gather this Thanksgiving—may gratitude deepen their bonds and renew their hope
  • For the souls of the faithful departed—may eternal rest be granted unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
