Gismondi Job Training Program

Launched with a legacy gift from The Gismondi Foundation, the Gismondi Job Training Program provides broadband telecommunications training for adults seeking employment in jobs that install, test, and troubleshoot infrastructure for telephone, television, or internet systems.

Telecommunications is one of the fastest-growing industries with thousands of jobs that go unfilled in southwestern Pennsylvania. Starting wages begin at $18/hour with the likelihood of increases and job promotions.

We offer qualified learners the skills to be successful in the following areas

What We Teach

The Program teaches skills needed to be successful in the field of telecommunications infrastructure.

We focus our training on 3 mediums:

  • Low voltage electricity
  • Light transmission
  • Radio frequency waves

Students will learn the science behind each medium, and practice making cables that are run underground, on telephone lines, and through buildings.

The course covers all the basics you would need to start a career in telecommunications.

Jobs Available

Telecommunications is a broad field, and technician jobs are all different.  The industry is growing, and many jobs provide the means for extending your learning and climbing up the ladder.  Some examples of jobs in the field of telecommunications are;

  • Telecommunications technician (both residential and commercial sites)
  • Security installer
  • Fire alarm systems installer
  • Cell tower technician
  • Fiber optic splicer
  • Lineman (Fiber and low voltage electric)

Telecommunications

Telecommunications involves building communication networks, installing the systems that 21st Century communications run on, and maintaining or updating that infrastructure.

• Security & Fire Alarm Installer

Fiber Optics and Broadband

Fiber Optics and Broadband is a field that builds and maintains the cabling that provides internet and telephone systems.  

Jobs include:

• Fiber Optics Cable Installer

• Fiber Optics Splicing

• Fiber Optics Production Technician

• Fiber Optics Network Operator
