Core Principle
—
The Catholic Church emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the needs of the poor and vulnerable. This principle is deeply rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, who identified himself with "the least of these". The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that we must recognize Christ in the poorest among us (CCC 1397). Supporting those in need is a powerful expression of this teaching, as it allows us to uphold human dignity and promote social justice.
Scriptural Reflection
—
And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:40
Prayer & Petitions
—
God of all compassion,
- Inspire us to see the face of Christ in those who are suffering and to respond with love and generosity.
- Guide us to use our resources wisely to support those in need and to advocate for justice.
- Strengthen our commitment to acts of charity and to work for systemic change that uplifts the marginalized.
- Help us to recognize our own vulnerabilities and to seek solidarity with those who are struggling.
- Grant us the grace to balance our service with moments of rest and renewal in Your presence.
- Unite us in compassion with our brothers and sisters around the world, working together for a more just and loving society.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
