September 2024 – Solidarity
In today’s world, where we are all more connected than ever, the idea of solidarity is very important. As part of a global community, we share many experiences, challenges, and dreams. The Catholic Church teaches us that solidarity means understanding how we depend on each other and working together to help everyone, especially those who need it most.
Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary.
1 Corinthians 12:22
Almighty and ever-living God, Inspire us to embrace the spirit of solidarity and recognize our interconnectedness as members of one human family. Grant us the courage to work together for the common good, especially for those who are marginalized or in need. May our actions reflect a true love for our neighbors and a commitment to building a more just and equitable world.
- Guide the hands of Catholic Charities to provide essential resources and a lifeline of hope to our brothers and sisters in need.
- Heal the bodies and minds of those suffering from contagious diseases and terminal illnesses, offering them comfort and relief.
- Bring solace and strength to those living in fear, oppression, and under the threat of violence.
- Offer hope and opportunity to those struggling with poverty, unemployment, and despair.
- Inspire public officials and decision-makers with wisdom and insight to create policies that promote justice and equality.
- Open our eyes to see the needs of our community, tune our ears to hear the cries of the poor, and bless our hands and feet to act as instruments of Your justice.
All this, we pray through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
