October 2024 - Life and Dignity of the Human Person
The Catholic Church teaches that the life and dignity of every person are the foundation of all its social teachings. This means that every human life is sacred and valuable, no matter the person’s age, development stage, or situation. This belief shapes how we act, both as individuals and as a community.
You formed my inmost being;
you knit me in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, because I am wonderfully made;
wonderful are your works!
Psalm 139:13-14
Almighty God, the author of life,
We lift our hearts in prayer for all who are vulnerable and marginalized:
- For the unborn, whose lives are threatened: May they be protected and welcomed into the world with love and support.
- For those facing poverty and hardship: Grant them the strength and resources to thrive.
- For the elderly and infirm: May they be surrounded by care and compassion in their later years.
- For those who make life-and-death decisions: Grant them wisdom, courage, and discernment.
Help us to build a culture that affirms the value of every human life, from conception to natural death. May we be a voice for the voiceless and a source of hope for those in need. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
