June 2024 – Call to Family, Community and Participation

The principle of Call to Family, Community, and Participation holds immense significance within Catholic Social Teaching. It recognizes the family as the foundational unit where individuals learn love, responsibility, and compassion. Beyond the family, it urges us to build strong communities where everyone contributes their talents and resources for the common good. By fostering shared purpose and responsibility, this teaching aims to create a just and compassionate society where all can thrive.

We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. This is the commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

1 John 4:19-21

Almighty ever-living God,

We look toward the perfect unity of the Blessed Trinity as an example of unity for family and community to strive for. As we turn to You, renew us with confidence and compassion as we invest our hearts into Your people.

  • Grant us the grace to recommit ourselves to the values of family, community, and service. May we be instruments of Your love and care for those in need.
  • Open our hearts to be generous with our time, talents, and resources. Guide us in using them to create a more just and compassionate world.
  • Foster a spirit of unity among all who support Catholic Charities. May we work together in harmony to fulfill Your mission of service.
  • Bless the work of Catholic Charities, that it may not only alleviate suffering but also empower individuals and families to transform their lives for the better.
  • Fill us with gratitude for the opportunity to serve others and experience the joy that comes from giving back to our community.
  • May the seeds of hope planted by Catholic Charities flourish within individuals and families. May Your love shine through our actions, inspiring others to share in our mission.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.
