August 2024 – Life and Dignity of the Human Person

Human life is sacred from the moment of conception to natural death. Every person is created in the image and likeness of God, possessing inherent dignity and worth. This belief underpins all Catholic social teaching and guides our actions as individuals and as a community.

From conception to natural death, all human life is a precious gift to be cherished and protected. This includes the unborn child, the elderly, the sick, the poor, and all those on the margins of society. We are called to build a culture of life where every person is valued and respected, regardless of their circumstances.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.

Jeremiah 1:5

Almighty God, the author of life, we lift our hearts in prayer for all who are vulnerable and marginalized:

  • For the unborn, whose lives are threatened: May they be protected and welcomed into the world with love and support.
  • For those facing poverty and hardship: Grant them the strength and resources to thrive.
  • For the elderly and infirm: May they be surrounded by care and compassion in their later years.
  • For those who make life-and-death decisions: Grant them wisdom, courage, and discernment.

Help us to build a culture that affirms the value of every human life, from conception to natural death. May we be a voice for the voiceless and a source of hope for those in need.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
